Birthday Thoughts

New year ahead, New wishes to work on!!!

Last year, I wrote a very long post about the lessons I learned for the past years. You can check it HERE and the year before a very cool one about the things I have done in life (here). I think these are one of my favorite posts on the blog: I always try to write them as honest as possible showing the reflection of my learning lessons. This year, I am doing a different format but I hope you like this one as well. 😀

I usually spend my birthday alone or traveling, just because I really like to take the day to myself: to reflect, to establish goals, to see where I want to go and especially to remember from where I come from. This year I decided to break that rule and actually celebrate it with my friends here in Chicago. Going back to university this year has been such a hard and demanding ride that I really felt the need to have a moment to feel loved and close to people. AND I am glad I did – my party was definitely GREAT, felt so much loved and appreciated that night. Thanks to everyone you made it.

I could write a huge list of things I learned (believe me, I learned so much in this past year) but with this post, I wanted to focus on something I start paying more attention this year: REMEMBERING FROM WHERE I COME FROM & THE PATH I HAVE DONE to accomplish my goals. Sometimes when I think about my mom’s village where I grew up: no more than 40 people, no more than 2 cafes, no more than a church and a mini-supermarket. Yes, I am from Europe but I grew up in such a small village where opportunities were limited. I am a first generation-college student and I am incredible grateful for the efforts my parents did for me and my sister – They gave us the best education they could and more than anything, the BEST VALUES. Looking back and seeing how far I have become [Yes, you can say it, I am so full of myself], it feels good.

With this being said: ALWAYS LOVE YOURSELF, BE PROUD OF YOU, BE AMAZED BY WHERE YOU COME FROM, WHERE YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU WANT TO GO. Enjoy the ride, be happy and never forget to look back to remember yourself what you have accomplished. Everyone has a story, a past, an unique experience that’s what makes me, what makes you: SPECIAL.

Be you as much as you can and people will love you, I promise you!!!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes and I can’t wait for the new adventures to come 😀

Beijinhos,

Daniela
