Birthday Girl: part II

I turned 25 years old this week 😀
I really wanted to share with you important moments, activities and changes that really helped to become the person I am today.

I am embracing my age and talking about 25 things of my past 25 years: good memories I have; amazing people I am surrounded of; unexpected moments I lived (because those are the best ones)

The best 25 things I have done in my life

1. Smiling to life
The first and the most important thing: smiling to life. «Attraction law» :If you are positive, you attract positive people and things to your life. Always smile:D

2. Performing drama
I studied drama for 2 years and today I can see how it helped me to be a more confident person. If you have kids, make sure they attend drama lessons. You will not regret it.

3. Dancing all night long in Algarve
There is not night life like in Algarve, Portugal. Short clothes, warm nights and nice clubs full of tanned and beautiful people. I was truly happy there with my strawberry caipirinhas, whiskeys and mojitos.

4. Traveling alone
I was 18 years old when I did my first long trip alone: 1 month in Miami. It was amazing… AND I am not just talking about the shooping and the night life. The experience itself taught me a lot about me and what I wanted for my life.

5. Teaching older people
I was 19 years old when I taught Statistics at University. Getting the opportunity to teach older people about a subject I liked was great 😀 I learnt so much about people behavior but also how small my problems were compare to those people – people who had to manage exams, kids, work and house all at the same time -.

6. Studying abroad
In doubt, just do it. I know it can be expensive studying abroad but it is a great experience. ERASMUS allowed me to do so much stuff. And more than that: my ERASMUS turned me into a more “open person”.

7. Talking to unknowns
Smiling and talking to unknowns in bars or on the street is something I have improved a lot in Brazil. Here everybody says «hi» to each other knowing or not knowing the person; And I love it.

8. Doing a mom’s and daughter’s trip
Being way from my family is not always easy. I found traveling once a year with my mother an amazing thing to balace the fact that I am never in Portugal to spend time with her.

9. Keeping a journal
Having a personal journal where I write about feeling, events and people has helped me so much to analyse situations and taking better decisions.

10. Learning how to speak other languages
I used to be bad with languages. I really was! Learning other languages has been one of the most amazing things in this life: being able to communicate and understand people in their own language is the best thing ever. I feel so lucky.

11. Working, studying and being an intern at the same time
I still ask myself what f*** I could do all of that and always wearing a smile on my face. I guess doing what makes us happy helps a lot. 😛

12. Backpacking on my own
You really get to know your limits when you travel with a backpack and the essential items. Plus, you discover what you like; what you hate; what you miss; who you are and to where you want to go.

13. Having an one night stand
Do not be shock! Sometimes spending one night with someone you do not know well can be great for your body and mind. Always being careful, of course.

14. Visiting the Statue of Liberty in New York City
Visiting this monument has been by far the most emotinal moment of my trips. Seeing with my eyes a symbol that I saw for so long in movies and series was the best opportunity I have ever lived.

15. Living alone
Getting my own space with my own decoration and stuff was so nice. Who does not like to have a place to call «home»?

16. Running Paris by day and by night
I have been running for 10 years but it was in Paris I realized I was really passionated for it. I would run at least 3 times a week: during the day or at night.

17. Creating my website
I am very proud of this website and although I wished I could write more and more… Everyday I feel better and better knowing my posts are helping and inspiring friends. 😀

18. Drinking less and eating better
I changed a lot of bad habits I used to have: I used to eat a lot of crap and go out a lot. Exercising more, eating healthier and drinking occasionally have been great changes in my life.

19. Being in love
Being in love is one of the most natural and beautiful things in life. Being loved and also loving someone are such great feelings. I hope everyone who is reading this post can experience them. <3

20. Meditating
A simple exercise that everyone should try to do everyday. I feel so much better each time I meditate (to be honest, while traveling sometimes is hard to do it but I try my best… Give it a shot as well :D).

21. Working abroad
Working abroad can be hard. Hard to get a job; Hard to get used to; Hard to understand everything BUT challenging your mind is a great step. Life begins at the end of your confort zone: believe me 😀

22. Loving myself
Society talks a lot about perfect women and sometimes we idealize we should be like that X or Y famous girl. Embracing the way I am and the body I have is something I am very proud of.

23. Creating a football team
I was working and the opportunity of creating a Football team among the girls of my company came up. Puting together 15 girls from young ones to grandmother ones was AMAZING. When we run for what we like, everything turns out to be possible. 😀

24. Praying to God
Being grateful for good things but also accepting the bad things that sometimes happen in life has made me a better person.

25. Quiting my job to travel the world
For sure the most difficult decision I made so far BUT it has also been the most amazing one.
