My 5 favorite gardens in Paris

I know the environment in Paris is complicated at the moment but I want to remain you, all, Paris is still an amazing city to visit. Today, I am highlighting 5 of my favorite gardens in the city. If you come around, make sure you visit at least one of them.

Jardin du Luxembourg

Jardin des Tuileries
Jardin des Tuileries

I’ve lost count of how many photos I took in this garden and how many times I have been here with family and friends from other parts of the world. This garden is incredible but I believe the charm of this place is also related to the area where the garden is: near the Sorbonne, near Notre-Dame, closed to Saint Michel… The Latin Quarter is for youngsters and although I do not enjoy myself going out there anymore, the truth is: I still love these streets as the first time I visited them. Anyway, the Luxembourg garden is undoubtedly a MUST GO in Paris.

The only defect: having so many tourists

Buttes-Chaumont

Friends, this is the garden that most tourists do not know but I bet this is the favorite one of Parisians. I used to live 2 minutes, YES (2 minutes) from the park and I could not be luckier. : D Buttes-Chaumont is located in a neighborhood that is constantly moving and changing. The 19ème was once a dangerous area, today things are different and I can say the mix of cultures in this area has brought a lot of charm to this arrondissement.

I used to run around here and have picnics with friends but there are those who adore these hills for sunbathing. The Rosa Bonheur bar is another attraction of the park. This bar, a large space with an underground decoration, is very popular on Sunday morning among young couples with children and in the evening is known for the unforgettable parties for the gay community.

The best: 10 minutes away from the park is the Canal de l’Ourq with many alternative bars, cinemas and an extensive walkway where anyone can sit and enjoy the calm movements of the water.

Jardin des Tuileries

Louvre, close to the Jardin des Tuileries

Close to the Louvre and always packed with people, I had to talk about Tuileries in this article. I think bloggers and fashionists ADORE this garden because it enables them to take the coolest photos. On the other side, elderly who spend their time here are most likely to read and talk to each other for hours. The good thing about this garden is that it is in the heart of the city and the long chaises available are an invitation for a little nap during lunch time in hot days.

The best: The garden gives direct access to the Louvre and from here it is impossible to miss the famous Carousel Arch of the Louvre that I told you HERE.

Jardin des Plantes

Hello Jardin des plantes
Hello Jardin des plantes

“The Upper-class” garden of the city is in the famous Les Marais. This is one of the most expensive areas in Paris. : D What I really LIKE is to lay on the garden and spend hours devouring books or having picnics with friends. For those who are not interested in books, other options are to explore the shops, restaurants and art galleries here.

The only defect: Needless to say, everything is expensive here!

Bois de Vincennes

Bois de Vincennes

I lived at 12ème in Paris for about 6 months in 2014. At the time I used to run to the Bois de Vincennes. Now that I am back and living closer to the park again, I can see even better its beauty with so many plants, animals and green spaces for families and little kids enjoy.

The best: The park is very big and there is space for everyone which is not common in most gardens in the city. There is green, there is space, there is life.

Which of the gardens is your favorite? Have you visited any?

Beijinho,
