How to make money online?

How do you make money online? This question might be the one people ask me the most. I am finally putting some ideas together about the subject. However, I am new in this subject. I could not live on the money I make with the blog BUT it is better than nothing. Before we start it, let me tell you something:

  • Nothing comes easy – YES! I did and I do a lot of mistakes and, honestly, I never thought it could be so hard to work on your own online. – BUT IT IS POSSIBLE, IF YOU REALLY WANT IT.
  • It takes TIME – YES! If you are not a patient person (I am not), you might see the process of building a brand online/ a business online VERY VERY slow.

How do I make money online?

There are many ways but the ones I am using/ focusing for now are the following:

1. Content writing

Content writing

This is the nicest way to make money for me – at the least, the one I enjoy the most. I can do something I love that usually pays well. Sometimes companies contact me saying they need articles about traveling or sometimes they just need content and I can write about whatever I want. Honestly, I love it.

A) How did I start?

  • Creating this blog and writing free articles for other companies for almost 2 years (I told you it takes time)
  • Reaching out newspapers, magazines and companies about my stories

B) How much do I earn?

  • Usually from $50 to $60 per article – most of the time, articles have to have at least 600 words

2. Online teaching

Teaching online

I do not get paid a lot for teaching online but this is one the most secure ways when we start our own business. I teach Portuguese in 90% of the cases. Sometimes, I prepare students for exams. I am also trying to start helping people with VISAS – if you have questions about working or studying abroad: let me know HERE.

A) How did I start?

  • I start teaching in Lisbon at University and this was almost 10 years ago. After I taught in other countries and finally, I switched to online when I start moving a lot. If you do not have teaching experience, it is fine but you need to invest some time on preparing teaching materials and getting comfortable explaining things to other people.
  • My best advice: You have to enjoy teaching! If you do it just for money, it will not last long.

B) How much do I earn?

  • It can vary but usually it goes from $15 to $30 per hour.

C) Companies I use?

  • I advertise my skills in marketplaces online
  • I reach language schools in the country where I am based or international schools that offer online courses
  • I have also used prezly

3. Afiliation

Discounts
Discounts

Have you seen my discounts’ page?

Most of the time when I offer discounts here, it means that you get a reduction on the product/ service and I get a commission out of your purchase.

Sometimes I also add Amazon links, which means if you click and buy the product I recommend, I also get a commission – next time, don’t get to click on, OK?

How much am I hoping to earn?

  • From 5% to 10% of the purchase you made

I have been exploring affiliation for a while but unfortunately I have not made any money yet. I put it here because I am hoping it will grow in the future – OF COURSE, I am always associating myself with products and services I like.

I hope this post gave you some good tips about making money online. Feel free to drop me an email if you have any other question.

Great tips, dear! The best advice, however, is the fact that nothing, including making money online, is easy.
