In Cuba, be Cuban

Cuba has always been a dream! I expected too much about this unknown country and the desire to discover every city and get in touch with cubans was high. Turns out it was not that easy to be in contact with locals but my dream of visiting the communist country became FINALLY a reality.

Although politics changed a lot in Cuba, the old characteristic cars of this country are still everywhere. If you think taking a yellow cab in New York is fancy, then come to Havana. ahaha The price? It depends where you want to go but most of cars are “shared taxis” (you can get around the city form 1 CUC = 1€ of even less if you are a good bargaining guy).

Between 2 cities in Cuba there is not much to do so enjoy the ride in a old car! You can travel around the island by bus or by shared taxi. The prices are usually similar, the biggest advantage of the taxi is the pick up and drop off whenever and wherever you want. Of course, the journey by taxi is faster and you get the chance to travel in a old cuban car. Once Again: In Cuba be a Cuban!

Cuba is known for the paradise beaches however when I got to Trinidad I was not that amazed with the beach. The water is very very hot but it is not clean everywhere. Doing snorkeling and visiting the old village definitely helped to see the good side of this amazing city. ⇒ Next stop: Varadero

Varadero is a city with a lot of resorts and it is more expensive and touristy however, the beach is way better than in south of the island.⇒ THE BEST CHOICE I MADE!!

It was the first time of my life I saw such a clear and blue water. I really felt in the paradise!

Road trip in the Island (2 weeks):

  • Havana
  • Viñales
  • Trinidad
  • Varadero

These places are definitely the most touristic ones but they are worth to visit. People also told me about Santiago de Cuba which is on the other side of the Island. I did not have the chance to go (money and time issues)… Maybe next time…

My adventure in America is now over 😀 I hope you enjoyed my posts and all the pictures related to this trip. It was a pleasure keeping you updated about this amazing trip. This experience has been by far one of the best of my life.

In doubt, just do it!!

Keep following my adventures around the world. I am sure something good will come around soon and I will be glad to share it with you.
