Strike a pose and Smile*

Hi folks:D I am Daniela, a 28 years old gal from Portugal. 😀

I grew up in Pombal (a little city in the center of the country), at 15, I joined a Drama School, at 16, I did my first exchange program (I went to Greece for a week) and at 17, I moved to Lisbon to study Media Communication at the University of Lisbon.

A year later, I flew to the U.S. for a month to do an English Immersion Program to improve my English. I came back a completely different person! Shortly after, I understood my call explore the world (or at least, try my best to!…). AND, I that’s what I currently am trying to do!

In 2011, I moved to Paris and everything began to flow organically. My 4 months of ERASMUS in Paris suddenly become years. In total, I spent 5 years in the city of love, fashion and glamour. I fell in love with Paris from the first night but things were not as easy in the beginning. Moving to France and not knowing the language going by with just Bonjour; Ça va and Merci was a huge struggle! The times people looked at me and asked themselves: “What the f*** is she saying?” are countless, BUT despite this I overcame the language barrier and little by little picked up French!

In Paris, I specialized in Digital Marketing and I became a young independent woman where: I got my first job and I even started living on my own. In total, I worked for 3 years, firstly as an assistant and later as a project manager for different types of markets.

I learned how to speak French and Spanish, I was able to travel to New York for the first time… I got my first Louboutins and I joined the “Louis Vuitton club” with my first bag. 😛 I was able to visit friends all over Europe and visit almost every European capitalAnd then, I got tired…

I have been in 40 countries so far

I decided to travel the world more than “just visit European capitals” leaving for the biggest adventure of my life: Traveling by myself in South America. I was (and I am still) passionate with Latin America! I backpacked in total 8 months in South America and those months were amazing! I learned, discovered, I explored so much. It was without doubt one of the most rewarding, enriching things I have ever done.

Exploring Australia
Exploring Australia

After so many adventures and stories to tell, I had a quick stop in Portugal to ensure mom I was doing fine and I flew to the other side of the world: Australia!!! Now, settled in Aussie land, I will share you my daily life here and my trips around Asia. My experience in Australia lasted for less than a year due to my accident in Indonesia. I decided to retuned to Europe after all my travels: I believe I needed some time to rest, to be with friends and feel loved. I was also a bit lost in the feelings and desires, MEANING: I had no idea what to do next. But as we often say, after a bad period, there is always a positive one around the corner.

As so, this year I moved to the USA achieving one of the biggest dreams: Attend an American University. I am doing a master’s degree in Data Science and I could not be prouder and happier about it. Please stay around if you want to discover more about the American culture and all the adventures of a new European girl in the country (believe me, sometimes things get odd) hahah…

Stay tuned 🙂

Beijinho,
Daniela
